Downloaded and installed and installed a few of my favourite packages, all successfully and with no issues noted — I even removed unwanted locales without breaking the system BUT my laptop Broadcom wireless (b43) is still NOT working even though it used to work just fine in 2010. Is there no plan to resolve this problem?
How would someone ‘…report any bugs or ask anything using the sphere-client’ if they don’t have access to the internet with their brand-new installed MDV2011 with Broadcom wireless card?
the driver should be OK, the kernel should use the brcm80211 driver from the kernel. Try under the root account issue a “modprobe brcm80211” and then get the result of “dmesg > dmesg.log” and I could help you out.
I’m trying this because I have no wireless on my macbook pro…
Here is my dmesg (last part).
Two things, before.
1. Mandriva control center says i do not have a valid vlan card (using the wl driver), or that I need to download firmware (using b43), but mandriva instructions are not working in the url
2. Network manager does not bring any connection up (but it does not show any error whatsoever).
Then I tried removing wl and b43 and loading brcm80211, and this is the result (with automatic b43 loading):

No, they don’t.
I already followed these instructions for Mandriva and the error is shown in the dmesg log.
Maybe I should discard the Mandriva instructions and build everything from the source?
Of course b43-fwcutter is already installed.

I filed bug [https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=64141]. Sorry for the delay but my very old account had problems, created one anew.
My laptop, Dell inspiron 1720, is working fine, but for my Dell optiplex 380 there is no access to internet.
The bug i filed is going to be successfully closed. Thumbs up for Mandriva! I now enjoy wireless from my macbook pro when I load linux (which will quickly become the main OS as long as I refine the setup).
